Types of Sales Training

This is for the entry level or beginner in sales and is a great introduction to the exciting world of sales for those who have limited experience in selling a product or service to others. The training will include breaking down the process into easy to understand segments. This training can be a basic overview or an intensive training session based on the level chosen.
Tangible Sales (products)
This type of training consists of selling a product that the people will be able to see, feel and touch. The training will focus on the emotions that arise when a consumer is buying a product. There will be time spent on product knowledge, reasons the consumer wants the product, how they plan to use it and the benefits of the product. Lastly, time will be spent on learning how to ask for the sale and completing the sales process.
Intangible Sales (services)
This type of training consists of selling services which people cannot grasp in their hands and therefore requires a slightly different approach. Intangible sales still involve emotions and product knowledge; however these services are sold in a more obscure way. This type of selling takes more of an advisory role in which you become the expert and are advising the client on his/her purchase.
Suggestive Selling (soft sell)
This type of selling is increasingly popular and has been an effective sales tool. This can be used for tangible and intangible sales alike and by many different businesses and people. Those that are not in for the full-scale selling or where it would be inappropriate can learn this subtle way to get their message across.
Negotiation and Closing Selling
Once again, this type of selling can be for tangible or intangible although it leans more toward tangible. Learn how to effectively negotiate and close deals in an extremely customer friendly way. This training will not only focus on closing techniques and negotiation strategies but will show you how to get into a position to have a chance to earn someone’s business.
Fine Points of Sales
This is another chance to fine tune your skills for those that have been selling from 1 year to 20 plus years The training can be tailored to fit which areas in the sales process you need the help the most. The training will look into the psychology behind why you may be failing in a certain area and once identified, you will develop strategies to ensure consistent improvement.
Sales Etiquette
This can be a touchy subject to approach with people because in order to improve we must be completely honest with ourselves. That being said, this session will consist of proper sales etiquette from every aspect possible. This includes appearance, hygiene, the way you walk, the way you talk, what topics to avoid, how you carry yourself, how you handle pressure and many more. Most people have heard the phrase “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”. This statement is the focus throughout the session.

What to look for when hiring a Sales Trainer

The first thing most people look for when hiring someone to train themselves or their employees is credibility. With over 33 years of combined experience in training, coaching and operating businesses, Coaching 4 Success has earned a credible reputation. Robert Kennedy -Edwards has enjoyed a 20 year successful career in the automobile business before joining and opening the sales training division. A number of individuals have listed testimonials to his training prowess (see Testimonials)
Does the Trainer have real world sales experience? Yes
Mr. Kennedy-Edwards began his sales career in the automotive industry as a salesperson and quickly progressed to sales management, general manager and vice president. One of his greatest achievements was taking a dealership from 32 employees to over 100 within 5 years under his General Manager position. Within this time,he hired and trained all employees in addition to creating new positions and new departments.
Does the trainer have a training background? Yes
In between his Sales and Sales Management points of his career, Mr. Kennedy-Edwards spent time working with a company that specialized in “Training the Trainer” seminars along with the development and facilitation of Sales Training programs. This experience enhanced his natural sales ability and honed his skills to develop others. Throughout his career he has enjoyed helping many salespeople develop and grow in their careers.
Is the trainer engaging? Yes
In order for your sales training program to be successful, it must start with an engaging trainer. It is important to have someone that relates well to the participants and who is friendly, knowledgeable and well-spoken. Moreover, a successful trainer can get the message across in a way that will keep the trainee’s interest. Effective material is also pertinent to a successful training session. However, if you don’t have an engaging presenter to deliver the material correctly, your program will not be as successful. Mr. Kennedy-Edwards knows how to make the training sessions enjoyable and productive at the same time. He uses appropriate humor and colorful anecdotes to keep the material fresh.
Is the information going to help me and my company? Yes
The biggest difference between Coaching 4 Success and other training companies is the development of the material as none of it comes out of a prepackaged box. The material is tailored to the individual or company to ensure the information fits the culture of the business. This also allows for the most current and up to date information preventing outdated materials and principles.
Is the training company flexible to my schedules and needs? Yes
Coaching 4 Success has a convenient location in beautiful Southwest Florida for an enjoyable retreat. The facility has accommodations for training individuals or groups. In addition, the trainer can come to your location and train on-site allowing minimal disruption of your current schedule and saving you money from employee travel expenses.
Does the trainer employ an effective method of training? Yes
Many training sessions are lecture based which can be informative, but can also be boring and cause the participants’ minds to wander, creating an ineffective method of training. Mr. Kennedy-Edwards’ style offers a “hands on” approach, allowing the participants to become actively involved while learning the material. They will be guided through the process by probing questions that cause them to think about not only what to do but why we do what we do. Memorizing canned questions can help some succeed but understanding the concept of why we ask the question and what information it can give us will allow the participants the ability to use it more effectively.

Who needs Sales Training?

This is a question that is easy to answer. We all need sales training! The topic of Sales is extremely vast and all encompassing. It is used in many different businesses in a variety of ways. Some examples of people that consistently utilize sales training are:
- Auto Sales People
- Real Estate Agents
- Insurance Salespeople
- Furniture Salespeople
- Flooring/Carpeting Salespeople
- Sales Managers
- Advertising Account Representatives
- Retail Salespeople
The above listed people are in the “game” of selling and quite often seek out training seminars, classes, books and a lot of other “training” sessions to keep them at the top of their game.
Coaching 4 Success has many programs to help both the experienced and the novice salesperson succeed in the world of sales.
However, there are many people in other professions that could benefit greatly from sales training and they do not pursue it because they believe that they are not in a “Sales” type position or business. Examples include:
- Business Owners
- Banks (many positions)
- Therapists
- Restaurant servers
- Bartenders
- Doctors
- Dentists
- Attorneys
- Engineers/Architects
- Service Industry (cleaning, pool, pest control, etc.)
- Retail stores (small or large)
- Etc.
“Selling is something we do for our customers, not to our customers” -Zig Ziglar
We believe in this motto at Coaching 4 Success. Many people and businesses have a misconception of the concept of Sales Training because they believe that training consists of ways to trick our customers into buying our product or services. We believe that by offering a good value in your product or service and truly satisfying their needs, you are doing something beneficial for your customers, not to them. Integrity in sales is what separates the above average performers from the rest of the sales force. Coaching 4 Success training consists of only ethical training practices.
